NANO KERATIN BOND HAIR EXTENSIONS AFTER CARE INFORMATION & & DAY FOLLOW UP POLICY.
Thank you for visiting us today. We hope you are in love with your new look!
Please take a moment to read through the following care information for helpful tips, aftercare guidance, and recommended products to maintain your extensions.
Follow-Up Appointments
It is very normal to require a follow-up appointment within 7 days of your application, especially if this is your first time wearing extensions.
We invite you back to the salon for a complimentary follow-up appointment if you feel any minor adjustments are needed, such as:
* Additional blending
* Length refinement (trimming)
* Excessive slippage or extensions falling out (please note: losing 1–2 strands per wash can be normal)
* Adjustment of frontal strands if placement feels incorrect
Normal Shedding Guidelines
It is normal to lose approximately 1–10 nano bond strands over a 2–8 week period
If this occurs:
* Please keep the loose strands
* They can be reinstalled at your next maintenance appointment
There is no need to contact the salon for this level of natural shedding.
If you feel you require a follow-up or adjustment, please contact us to book an appointment.
Please note: This policy covers minor adjustments only. Any additional or more extensive work may incur a fee.
what to expect.

Initial Wear & Comfort
Your extensions may feel slightly snug on the first day, and you may experience a mild tension headache. This is completely normal and should ease quickly.
If you experience any of the conditions discussed during your consultation, or have any concerns, please contact us.
Movement & Adjustments
Nano/keratin bond extensions can occasionally slip, or a bead may move, causing the extension to feel loose sooner than expected.
If this occurs, please contact us to arrange an adjustment.
*Please note: corrections may incur a fee.*
Shedding & Maintenance
A small amount of natural shedding on the extensions is normal. You may notice a few strands coming out over time, which is expected with this method.
Many clients choose to replace hair at 6 months or add hair after a few months to maintain fullness.
Correct home care and gentle brushing with your D’Tangler Brush will help minimise shedding.
It is essential to follow your recommended maintenance and repositioning schedule to protect your natural hair and scalp.

Scalp Sensitivity & Itching
Mild itching or sensitivity around the bonds is a common reaction when first wearing extensions. This is due to the scalp adjusting to the added weight and tension.
This should settle within a few days. However, in rare cases, irritation may persist.
Before considering removal, you can try the following:
* Wash thoroughly:Ensure all shampoo and conditioner are fully rinsed out, as product buildup can cause irritation.
* Dry completely:Always ensure the roots and bonds are fully dry. Damp areas can harbour bacteria and increase sensitivity.
* Antihistamines: If medically suitable, you may consider taking an antihistamine. Please consult your pharmacist first.
Removal (If Necessary)
If irritation becomes severe or does not improve, the extensions may need to be removed.
We recommend returning to the salon for safe professional removal. However, if urgent, they can be removed at home.
To remove:
* Use pliers to gently crush the nano bond
* Carefully slide the extension out of the hair
please contact us before attempting removal, we are always happy to guide you.

Washing, Home Care, Drying & Styling Guide
Your hair extensions should be washed no more than twice per week Where possible, we recommend washing once per week.
If your natural hair becomes oily between washes, a dry shampoo may be used.
We have carefully developed our own aftercare range, specifically formulated to maintain the quality and longevity of your extensions.
We strongly recommend using these products, as incorrect product use can strip the protective coating and shorten the lifespan of the hair.
Alternatively, you may use products that are:
* Protein-free
* Sulphate-free
* Paraben-free
However, our professional recommendation will always be our in-salon range.
Washing Steps
* Brush thoroughly before washing using your *Extension D’Tangler Brush to remove knots and prevent pulling.
* Tilt your head back in the shower and fully saturate your hair.
*Do not flip your hair forward over a basin.
* Apply a small amount of conditioner (approx. 50c size) to mid-lengths and ends only.
Do not rinse.
* Apply a small amount of shampoo (approx. 20c size) to the roots only.
Gently massage - do not scrunch. Rinse and repeat.
* You do not need to shampoo the extensions directly, as they will be cleansed as the shampoo rinses through.
* Rinse thoroughly, keeping the hair smooth and straight.
* Repeat the process, this time gently working shampoo slightly through to the mid-lengths.
* Apply a generous amount of conditioning mask to mid-lengths and ends.
Leave for 5–7 minutes, then gently comb through with fingers or a wide-tooth comb.
* Rinse well.
* Gently towel dry and apply a small amount of serum to mid-lengths and ends.
For best results, we recommend an intensive hydration treatment once a month using our in-salon treatment range.
Drying Your Extensions
* Do not brush your hair while it is wet
* You may air dry or blow dry, however blow drying is recommended for best results as it smooths the cuticle.
Blow-Drying Tips
* Once hair is partially dry, apply a heat protectant
* Section the hair and begin drying, ensuring the extensions do not tangle
* When hair is around 80% dry, use your D’Tangler Brush to gently smooth through
* Always support the bonds/wefts with your hand** while brushing to avoid tension
*Styling Your Extensions
You can style your extensions using:
* Straighteners
* Curling irons
* Crimpers
* Heated rollers
Always use a heat protectant before applying heat.
Styling products such as hairspray, gels, and serums can be used, but it is important they are extension-safe and fully cleansed from the hair during washing.
Product buildup can lead to:
* Dryness
* Tangling
* Reduced lifespan of your extensions
Try to limit excessive heat styling, as overuse can dry out the hair.

Brushing & Combing
Brush your extensions gently to avoid excessive pulling on your natural hair.
Always use a professional extension brush
Start brushing from the ends, gradually working your way up to the roots.
* Brush 1–3 times per day to prevent tangling and matting.
-
Colouring Your Extensions
We strongly recommend that you do not perm, tint, or colour your extensions.
Extensions are multi-tonal and coated with a protective layer to maintain their silky finish. Colouring can:
* Cause uneven colour results
* Strip the protective coating
* Dry out and damage the hair
*Do not use purple shampoos unless recommended by your technician.
If you wish to colour your extensions, we highly recommend using a professional technician experienced in hair extensions, or you may return to our salon for safe service
*Do not lighten or bleach extensions under any circumstances.
-
Everyday Activities
Sunbeds / Tanning: Wrap your hair in a towel to protect it from heat and damage.
Gym / Sauna / Steam Rooms: After workouts or heat exposure, dry your scalp and attachments to prevent sweat buildup. Using a high-quality dry shampoo can reduce the need for frequent washing.
Pregnancy: Hormonal changes may make the scalp more sensitive. You may wish to delay getting extensions during this time.
Holidays & Swimming
We strongly recommend avoiding swimming in pools, spas, and the ocean while wearing extensions.
Swimming can:
* Shorten the lifespan of your extensions
* Cause discolouration
* Lead to tangling and dryness
Swimming is against manufacturer guidelines, and you do so at your own risk.
-
If You Do Swim – Precautions
* Tie your hair up and keep it as dry as possible
* Avoid diving or fully submerging your hair
* Use a professional swimming protectant such as Coastal Girl (available in-salon)
Helpful tip: Some clients apply conditioner to their hair, tie it into a ponytail, and secure additional covered elastics every 2–3 inches to minimise tangling.
-
After Swimming Care
1.Rinse hair thoroughly with fresh water while still tied
2. Remove elastics one at a time rinsing each section carefully
3. Follow with your full washing routine
4. Finish with an intensive treatment to restore moisture
-
Important Note
Chlorine and salt water can damage extensions by breaking down the protective coating, leaving hair sticky, prone to tangling, or matting.
ESSENTIAL & IMPORTANT TIPS
* Never sleep with wet hair. Always ensure your hair and wefts are completely dry before bed.
* Take proper care of your extensions by using the recommended products to maximise their lifespan.
* Follow your personalised tightening schedule and do not extend appointments beyond 12 weeks.
This is crucial for the safety of your natural hair and scalp, as well as the longevity of your extensions.
* Lighter shades of extensions are pre-lightened and may have a shorter lifespan than darker shades. These require extra care and maintenance.
* Avoid products, colours, or toners that contain oils or fruit extracts (such as wheatgerm or citrus), as these can affect the quality and longevity of the extensions.
